Mahjong Classic Master is a modern version of classic Chinese Mahjong that features highly stylistic tile icons. On a gradient green tabletop, the player is tasked with clearing away patterns of tiles across levels. They also attempt to earn a high score and as many gold coins as possible.
The white tiles display bamboo, characters, dots, dragon symbols and special category icons with modern designs. The player can only select tiles that have at least one left or right side open. To remove tiles, they must select matching pairs. The game displays the number of uncovered potential matches at any given time under the score in the upper-center area.
Mahjong Classic Master highlights selected tiles with green and yellow colors. When a pair disappears, pieces of thin green leaf-shaped confetti burst onto the screen and then fade away. At the end of a level, the game celebrates the player's accomplishments with motivational and other positive statements.
The game also supplies three tools in the lower-center area. The player can reveal hidden tiles with a shuffle double arrows button and a blue-highlighted pair with a hint light bulb button. They can also reverse a move with an undo back arrow button. They pay for access to these tools with their coin winnings.
The player can update and review their weekly and all-time ranks against other online players at any time. They merely need to use the world and calendar icons in the upper-right area.
